This week’s Newsletter is all about you! We are lucky enough to have a student provide their perspective of how YTeach has benefited them. Our hope is that it will give some insight as to the benefits of peer to peer tutoring and ways that it can help. So let’s get right to it:
“YTeach can help students strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence, and build essential learning skills. Tutors give students individualized attention that they might not receive in a crowded classroom. This helps students who are struggling to keep up, as well as those who want to challenge themselves. It also keeps students on track during breaks from school.
When I was struggling in math and needed help, I asked my brother if he knew anyone that I could contact. He told me his good friend Stefano Sanchez is the president of the peer tutoring program and they were using an app where I could register and find a tutor that would give me the support I needed. Ever since I signed up, my math grade has skyrocketed, and I’ve learned a wide variety of academic tips and developed social leadership skills. Stefano and many of the other tutors are great people and help us strengthen skills that we never knew we had.
Moreover, from a student in need of peer tutoring, there is a seemingly neverending list of benefits. YTeach can help you develop study and learning techniques that will help set you up for success for your entire life. First, individual and unique learning experience and one on one attention. I have received an individualized learning experience that I can’t always get in a classroom setting. Tutors can customize the lessons and activities just for you. Tutors get to know your learning style and can adapt teaching methods accordingly, as well.
YTeach also encourages independence and responsibility. I have gained the ability to do school work on my own, and over time, I have learned to work without help. I have accomplished personal growth and have learned to take responsibility for my studies. Getting tutored also improves social and behavioral skills. YTeach has helped me become a better communicator to form better relationships with peers and make more positive social and behavioral adjustments.
Not only do I believe in the benefits for students using YTeach, but also for the tutors themselves. The tutor that has signed up can bond with the student and learn new qualities like patience and compassion, as well as become a better leader in their school community. I encourage people to sign up for both tutoring and to tutor others because YTeach has helped me improve both academically and as an overall better person and leader.”
In this week’s #MakeItHappen Monday, go out of your comfort zone, and sign up for a tutoring session or become a tutor. You never know how much you can improve until you try it. Keep us posted on how your YTeach sessions are going amd email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or tag us on social.
Go make it happen,
Andres & the YTeach Team
