At the end of the lesson you should be able to:
1) define carbohydrates, monosaccharides, disaccharides and polysaccharides and give examples of carbohydrates representing these classes;
2) describe the occurrence and functions of the most important carbohydrates;
3) describe the characteristic properties of monosaccharides, disaccharides,
storage polysaccharides and structural polysaccharides;
4) explain the reactions of hydrolysis and condensation of carbohydrates
and their importance.
